Dear New Traditions Families:

On behalf of the Friends of New Traditions (FONT) board, it’s my pleasure to welcome you to this new school year!

This year’s board members have children representing a range of ages. We feel this provides a variety of perspectives and can inform how we support each child and their teachers. We also hope this gives us the opportunity to know parents in every class. We look forward to meeting new parents and welcoming back old friends.

Our theme for this year’s PTA is participation! With your participation, we had a most successful 2015-16 PTA year! This community thrived on your input, energy, enthusiasm, time, and money. We hope to continue building on this success and evolving to better meet the needs of our children with your participation. We know not everyone can give in all these areas, but without your participation, the PTA won’t be able to do everything that this community wants.

During the 2016-17 school year, FONT will continue to build upon our successful fundraising events, including the Dragon Walk in the fall, the Auction in late winter, and the Discovery Festival & Raffle in the spring. We’re even exploring the possibility of holding an Outdoor Movie Night this Fall! Every activity provides a chance to have fun together and build a community while raising critical funds for arts programs, outdoor education, recess supervision, kindergarten camp, and supporting our teachers with funds for supplies.

We hope you’ll join us by becoming a member of the PTA for the 2016-17 school year. As a member - and this invitation is open to parents, guardians, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and others - you'll demonstrate to your child your commitment to his or her school, have the opportunity to vote on how we use the money we raise, and more.

In addition to your PTA membership, we want all families to be a part of one of our many PTA committees. This is a great way to learn more about your school, meet other parents, and make a difference in your child’s education. There are plenty of areas where we need help. Just ask us at one of the many back-to-school social events, stop one of us at drop-off or pick-up, or email

We welcome your involvement with whatever energy and resources you have to offer. As always, we look forward to hearing from you and working together towards a joyful and satisfying school year.

All the best,

Nima Nayebi - President
Ranjani Ramakrishna - Executive Vice President (Contracts)
Anna Branning - First Vice President (Communications)
Kent Corson - Treasurer
Gina Originario - Financial Secretary
Vicky Keston - Secretary
Todd Motoyoshi - Fundraising Chair
